Hockey with Room 9

Today we went to the playground and practiced hockey skills.  We juggled hockey balls on our sticks.  We learnt how to dribble hockey balls around cones.  Sometimes it was easy and sometimes it was hard!  We played a game at the end called dog bone!  It was awesome fun!  Thank you to Aron for teaching us the skills.  Watch our video to see what we did. (By Jed & Trent)
In a class discussion (after I had made a comment on this post in which I asked a question about our school values) the students decided that we used our school values of resilience and persistence.  We decided that these school values are part of the key competency 'managing self'.  Read the comments about this blog to find out what persistence and resilience means to Room 9. 1. Great work team. Thanks to Aron for teaching us the skills. Thanks to Jed & Trent for writing the blog post. Well done to Connor, Jaxon, Nikita, Dylan and Ellie for making the movie. What a great way to share our learning with our families and our blog followers. Sometimes it was hard to control the hockey ball. What School Values do we need to practice when trying new skills which may be tricky?

Thank you for getting Aron to come and teach us some moves in hockey. I am excited about doing hockey because my friend Deliah who used to be in room 5 is playing it so I said I will. 'I Can, I Will!' From Charlotte

  5. To Miss Watts

The School Values we practiced were persistence and resilience. Resilience means bouncing back when things go wrong. Persitences means never giving up. We use our school moto I can, I will!

  9. Hi Room 9,

Just been watching the hockey video with Mairi - looks like excellent fun working on those hockey skills.
What was the hardest skill to learn and which was the most fun. How many people on a hockey team?
    Loved the funky music too!

  12. Hi Rob

Some of us thought bouncing the ball on the hockey stick was hard and others felt that dribbling the ball around the cone was hard. My favourite skill was dribbling straight up and back down. Everyone loved playing the game. We played the numbers game with soccer when I was in Melrose but in Nelson we did it with hockey.
